In the Roman world, from the Republican age and until to the 4th century AD, the gladiatorial games had an enormous popularity among all social classes.
The gladiator images adorned everyday objects, mosaics and reliefs reflecting the great fascination exercised by those who risked their own lives to each performance.
This small statue depicts a gladiator, with protections and weapons. He wear a helmet, a manica, a type of arm protection, and a subligaculum, a loincloth, with a decorated belt. One of the leg has a prtection, the other one some bends till the knee.
