Statue of Harpocrates

Harpocrates is the name by which Greeks called "Horus the child", the Egyptian god son of Osiris and Isis. The God, represented as a naked infant, is characterized by the finger in his mouth, natural childish attitude, interpreted in greek-roman period as an invitation to silence and therefore not to disclose the secrets related to initiation of the mysteries of Isis.

In Hellenistic period its cult increases and the god takes the figure of the greek god Eros. 
This bronze statue represents the god standing on his feet, with the cornucopia and a finger to the mouth. On his head a rayed crown with the halfoom and a loto flower. Those elements permit to identify it in Harpocrates.
