Archaeological Museum of Bologna

The sculpture is an almost life-sized portrait of an official named Uahibra, who is known from various other monuments because he held important military and religious positions during the 26th dynasty (664–525 BC).

The statue, which can be interpreted as a whole despite the fact that the limbs are essentially gone, is modelled after the works of the Old Kingdom (2705–2195 BC) in its rigorous composition and simple clothing, an archaic unpleated skirt (shendit) and a “cap” wig worn behind the ears and down the shoulders. However, the smiling face, the linear rendering of the body and the honed surfaces are typical of the sculptural works of the 26th dynasty.
